Star Trek Online - Starfleet Uniform Heritage

This is a wallpaper that I made as part of the announcement that we would be standardizing the Starfleet uniforms worn by non-player characters in Star Trek Online. We chose the "Odyssey" uniform because it was a design original to STO but also felt like an organic evolution of the Starfleet uniforms featured in the "prime" universe TV shows and movies.

I helped develop the look of the Odyssey uniform with STO's lead character artist at the time, and did a lot of the gruntwork of updating all of the NPCs to use it. It has been a great feeling to see it starting to show up in cosplay circles as a legitimate entry into the pantheon of Starfleet uniforms!

Another part of the rollout was the creation of the Starfleet Uniform Code - I took all of our default uniform colors and wrote a pamphlet instructing players how to replicate these new "official" standard uniforms if they wanted to - all styled as an official Starfleet publication. You can see more examples of the Odyssey-style uniforms and read the uniform code here: www.arcgames.com/en/games/star…
